When people ask, “why become a teacher”, you answer because it’s one of the best ways to impact the lives of young people. Thomas More University’s Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) is an accelerated graduate program designed for those who have already earned a bachelor’s degree and want to start making that difference. This MA in teaching includes initial licensure as well as personalized classroom teaching experience.
AAQEP Accreditation
Thomas More University is a member in good standing of the Association for Advancing Quality in Educator Preparation (AAQEP), a national accrediting organization recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation. This program has been awarded full accreditation by AAQEP through Dec. 31, 2030. Accreditation acknowledges that a program prepares effective educators who continue to grow as professionals and has demonstrated the commitment and capacity to maintain quality. Not all graduate teaching programs are created equal. What sets our MA in teaching apart is our values-based, mission-driven education. You’ll grow personally and professionally in a master’s program designed for those who want to sharpen their teaching skills and abilities for students from P-12.

How do I apply?
1. Click here to submit your application for graduate admission to the University.
2. Order an official copy of your transcript(s) to Thomas More University from the other institution(s) you have attended.
You will find the instructions for ordering transcripts on the other school’s registrar webpage.
3. Request three letters of recommendation from non-relatives who can speak knowledgeably of your readiness for graduate study.
One of the recommenders must be a school principal. Recommenders may submit their letters to [email protected].
4. Submit your current resume and your supplemental application materials to [email protected].

The background check must be completed through an external website.
