If you are transferring from an international institution, please see our International Admission page for more information.

Credits will be reviewed and/or accepted if a student carries a grade of C- or better in their completed courses. Courses not awarded credit by the student’s previous institution(s) cannot be transferred. Remedial, developmental, and technical/vocational courses are not accepted as transfer credit.

Thomas More University accepts up to 90 transferred credit hours and equivalency credits to be applied to a bachelor’s degree; it allows as many as 44 transferred credit hours and equivalency credits to be applied to an associate’s degree; and as many as 12 transferred credit hours and equivalency credits to be applied to a certificate. No more than 60 semester hours will be awarded in transfer from a two- year institution.

Transfer equivalencies are evaluated by the registrar and academic department and applied by the Registrar. Credit is granted for academic work comparable to that offered at Thomas More University.

Grade point averages (GPAs) from other institutions do not transfer to Thomas More. A Thomas More GPA will be established after a student’s first semester of classes.

Courses with a Pass/Satisfactory grade will typically only be accepted as general elective credit only.

Students must earn at least 25% of their credit hours through instruction offered by Thomas More University, exclusive of transfer credit and credit earned through the consortium program.

In order to earn a degree in a specific major, students must complete at least 18 of the required major hours from Thomas More for a bachelor’s degree or 9 hours for an associate degree.
