Next Steps for Admitted Students

Welcome to the Thomas More Dual-Credit Program! Follow the steps in the checklist below to prepare for the semester.

  • Thomas More is committed to making sure that high school students who are enrolled or thinking about enrolling in our dual-credit program are taking courses that are best suited to the needs of the student. Students may take up to 5 courses in any given semester.
  • Are you looking to take a general education (core) course?
    • Students who are just starting out in dual credit or looking to get some required, widely transferrable general education courses out of the way are recommended to start out with Thomas More Core courses. These will be required for any TMU degree.

  • Are you curious about exploring a particular major?
    • Our dual-credit pathways align with majors across campus, allowing students to earn up to 12 credit hours toward a major!
    • Explore available pathways
  • Want to take something online or on campus?
  • If you have questions or need additional advising, email [email protected]. Prior to being advised, please have the following information ready:
    • AP scores
    • A list of high school requirements you need to fulfill
    • Any transcripts/schedules showing dual-credit taken at other colleges/universities
    • A list of any courses your school does not permit you to take
    • The days/times you are available to take courses
    • Your planned major
    • What college(s) you want to attend
  • The Thomas More Dual-Credit Program will register you for your courses. Students will not be enrolled for courses until all necessary paperwork has been submitted.
  • Schedule Changes: If you need to make a change to your schedule (add or drop), please let your high school counselor know. All requests must originate from them. Please note the following drop schedule:
    • Week 1 = 100% refund
    • Week 2 = 75% refund
    • Week 3 = 50% refund
    • Week 4 = 25% refund
    • Week 5 and beyond = 0% refund

Admitted students are required to complete our Dual-Credit Orientation. There is no login required to access this orientation, though students will need their Thomas More University login information to access some features of the orientation.

Students wishing to receive an accommodation in their course will need to register with the Office for Student Accessibility.

  • Students receive Thomas More University credit for each dual-credit course taken and passed. These credits are transferable to other accredited colleges and universities, subject to each institution’s transfer policies.
  • To remain in the Dual-Credit Program, students must maintain a cumulative Thomas More GPA of 2.0. If a student’s GPA falls below a 2.0, they will have to sit out a semester and apply for reinstatement if they wish to participate at a later date.
