Withdraw & Refunds

Students withdrawing from a class must notify the Office of the Registrar in writing. Students withdrawing from the university must fill out an exit interview form with the Office of Retention, located in the enrollment department. The official date of withdrawal is based on the date of receipt of notification. Pro-rated credits and refunds are based on the following schedule:

TRADITIONAL SEMESTER COURSES THAT MEET 16 WEEKS AND BEYOND:

  • Before and during the first week – 100%
  • During the second week – 75%
  • During the third week – 50%
  • During the fourth week – 25%
  • After the fourth week – 0%

FOR COURSES THAT MEET FROM 4 TO 15 WEEKS:

  • During or before the first week – 100%
  • During the second week – 50%
  • After the second week – 0%

FOR COURSES THAT MEET ALTERNATE WEEKS:

  • On or before the sixth day after the course begins – 100%
  • Between the seventh and twentieth day after the course begins – 50%
  • Anytime thereafter – 0%

FOR COURSES THAT MEET FROM 1 TO 3 WEEKS:

  • On or before the second day – 100%
  • On the third or fourth day – 50%
  • After the fourth day – 0%

Note: Failure to attend class(es) does not constitute official withdrawal or eligibility for a refund. Lab and course fees are not refundable after classes begin. Refunds for room and board charges are based on the tuition refund schedule. In extraordinary circumstances, such as serious illness or injury, when a student is forced to withdraw from classes after the refund period has ended, a written appeal may be made. Contact the Bursar’s Office for specific procedures. Appropriate documentation is required with such an appeal.
