What are copyrighted works?

Copyrights protect "original works of authorship" and include:

  • Print media, including literary works, books, pictures, graphics, articles, other writings, and all other things on paper
  • Songs and other musical works
  • Movies and Television productions
  • Computer software
  • Pantomimes and choreographic works
  • Artwork, including all forms of artwork in any type of media such as paintings, sculpture, drawings, photographs
  • Trademarks, including company logo and name
  • All forms of text are copyrighted-even e-mails and other forms of electronic text
