Art Education has been a very natural profession for Vicki. Her first experiences in teaching art to children came early in her college years when she worked in the Thomas More Summerart program first as an aid and then as a teacher. Professionally she has been on the faculty at Newport Independent Schools teaching art in the elementary grades k-5th and in middle for the last seventeen years. Students in her charge have enjoyed a wide range of school and community art projects from mural painting to works for Children’s Hospital in Cincinnati.
In the summers, Victoria works in her studio on her own painting and printmaking projects. Her interest in the textural and organic qualities of materials is evident in her own work as well as the projects she designs for her students. She continues to exhibit in local and regional shows and has curated exhibitions of work by Kentucky art teachers.
Victoria has served as a juror in regional competitions for peers and for Kentucky high school students from across the state. She has been a very active member of local and national art education organizations. In the KyAEA she has been a board member and one of the most energetic state regional directors. Northern Kentucky art teachers have benefited greatly from her leadership. As vice president of the organization she organized a number of professional development opportunities and has conducted workshops on the state level and for the Contemporary Art Center in Cincinnati. She continues to be a leader in art education in the state and on the national level in the neae.
