Star Clusters: Brothers & Sisters in the Sky
Presented by:  Dr. Wes Ryle

What:
Almost all stars, including our Sun, are believed to begin their lives in clusters - groups of hundreds or thousands of stars born together from clouds of gas and dust. We'll discuss some of the prominent star clusters visible in the winter night sky as well as how star clusters help us learn more about individual stars and their life cycle. Recent studies show that it may even be possible to determine the location of some of our Sun's long-lost siblings!

Weather permitting, join us after the talk for a viewing of the Moon, stars, and more at The BB&T Observatory. Thomas More College faculty and students will be available to help the public view the night sky through a telescope.

This talk is intended for a general audience. All ages are welcome. The event is free and open to the public. Thomas More College faculty and students will assist visitors in using the telescopes.
