Going the Distance: Interstellar Travel

Presented by: Dr. Wes Ryle

What

Hollywood is addressing the topic of interstellar travel with the release of “Interstellar”, featuring Matthew McConaughey. We’ll discuss some of the ideas put forth by both science and science fiction toward traveling the stars.  The technology required to traverse the stars may be a long way off, but that doesn’t mean we haven’t started exploring the possibilities already!
Join us afterward for an up-close look at the Moon, stars and more with telescopes at The Bank of Kentucky Observatory (weather permitting).

This talk is intended for a general audience.  All ages are welcome.  The event is free and open to the public.  Thomas More College faculty and students will assist visitors in using the telescopes at the observatory.
